An Attempt to Be

An Attempt to Be was created between 2017 and 2019, during the years when I was beginning to recognize myself as a photographer and searching for my own visual language.

At that time, the camera was more than a tool for documenting the world; it became a way of approaching myself. Every journey, every street, and every encounter was part of an ongoing attempt to understand how I could see the world—and how I could exist within it.

Rather than documenting places, these photographs trace lived experiences and fleeting moments. The softness, motion blur, and ambiguity present in some of the images are integral to this process of exploration, reflecting an interest in memory, perception, and emotion rather than in the precise representation of reality.

Many of the original files from this series are no longer available, and these photographs remain the surviving records of that period. Today, An Attempt to Be stands as an archive of the formative years of my photographic practice—an attempt to become before I knew who I would eventually be.
